Three projects were presented at the 2025 Doswell Health Informatics Conference

Texas Woman’s University hosted the 2025 Doswell Health Informatics Conference, gathering clinicians, researchers, and educators under the banner “AI in Healthcare: Bridging Innovation, Practice and Education.”

Three projects mentored by Dr. Haihua Chen and Dr. Ana Cleveland were presented at this conference:

  • Podium: “Data Fusion and Quality Enhancement for Medical Concept Normalization using Large Language Models (LLMs)

    — Presented by PhD student Yuhan Zhou, the study proposes a data fusion framework that evaluates and improves data quality across multiple MCN datasets using LLMs.

  • Podium: “Exploring Virtual Reality as a Mental Health Intervention”

    — Presented by PhD student Hripsime Mantecon, this work demonstrated immersive VR experiences designed to alleviate anxiety and depression symptoms.

  • Poster: “Empowering Rural Nurse Practitioners with a Large Language Model–Based Support System”

    — Presented by PhD student Saiful Islam Badhon, this study outlined an LLM-driven decision to bridge specialist-access gaps in underserved communities.

We would like to express gratitude to Dr. Ana Cleveland, director of the Health Informatics Program, and to the conference committee for creating an inspiring forum that turns emerging AI research into real-world healthcare solutions.
